The cabin and all the supplies for the trip to the Mississippi River had burnt up, but Leapfrog, Toenail, and Trixie were still determined to make the trip and find the Candy Flavored Pop Factory! Toenail still had his jogging shoes, and Leapfrog still had his skateboard, which luckily had not been in the cabin! They did not know which way to go to get to the Mississippi River because all their maps had been in the cabin, so they began to just walk down the road. They happened to be heading north.
Soon a car stopped to give them a ride, but there was no room in the car because that family happened to have 2 parents, 5 kids, all their laundry, a washing machine, a rolled-up clothesline, a roll of duct tape, and an ironing board!
The father of the family said, “I would really like to give you a ride, but there is just no room in the car!” Then Leapfrog had an idea! He said, “Could you use the duct tape to tape your ironing board on top of my skateboard, you could tie the clothesline to your back bumper, and we could hold onto the clothesline and ride on the ironing board!” It was a great idea, so that is just what they did! Leapfrog, Toenail, and Trixie pretended that they were riding on a rolling surfboard going down the highway!
Then it happened! The car went screaming around a sharp curve, and the rolling surfboard went into the field next to the road! Toenail was getting slapped in the face by thorn bushes, and he was having a great time! Just before the car pulled them back onto the road, the rolling surfboard hit a giant anthill! Thousands of huge ants went flying into the air, and they were not happy!
All the ants landed on the rolling surfboard, and immediately decided to torment the people that had destroyed their anthill, so they went scurrying up the pant legs of Leapfrog and Toenail and started to tickle them! Leapfrog and Toenail immediately began doing a very vigorous dance designed to look silly! Meanwhile the biggest ant climbed up on the end of Trixie’s nose and began to make faces at her. Trixie was so scared that screamed and stuck her nose into Toenail’s ear (which was hard to do because he was still doing the silly dance). The family in the car happened to look back at the rolling surfboard and saw Leapfrog and Toenail doing the silly dance and Trixie sticking her nose into Toenail’s ear, and they thought that the people on the surfboard were very weird!
Meanwhile the biggest ant was absolutely terrified at being in Toenail’s ear, so it screamed loudly into the ear and then ran up Trixie’s nose! She jerked her nose out of Toenail’s ear and sneezed! The ant went flying and went right into the open window of the car! The other ants all went running across the clothesline, onto the car, and into the car window to rescue their leader. The driver slammed on the brakes at the top of a steep hill! The rolling surfboard went past the car, but it was still tied to the car, so its great speed and force spun the car around and pulled it over the top of the hill!
The ants could not handle this type of action-packed adventure, so they all jumped out of the car! The car went flying down the hill chasing the rolling surfboard! Trixie looked back and calmly said, “Look, the car is chasing us, and it is going faster than we are!”
Our super-heroes were about to get run over by the car that was supposed to be pulling them! Leapfrog did some quick thinking and had a great, stupendous, out-of-this-world, absolutely terrific and normal idea! Just before the car hit the rolling surfboard, Trixie laid down flat on the surfboard and held onto the rope. Leapfrog and Toenail jumped up onto the hood of the car and sat on the windshield. Trixie and the surfboard went right underneath the car with no problem and soon she was surfing behind the car again.
Meanwhile, the driver of the car was screaming frantically because he could not see where he was going because Leapfrog and Toenail were sitting on the windshield right in front of him! Leapfrog and Toenail began calmly combing the bugs out of their hair, when suddenly they saw it! It was a huge sign that said, ‘Ohio River in 1 mile’!
“Oh no,” wailed Toenail, “We went the wrong way again, we are at the Ohio River, not the Mississippi River”. Leapfrog said, “We have an even worse problem, we just combed our hair, and it looks like it might rain!”
A huge storm came! The rain came down harder than a piece of lint in a cement mixer! The driver of the car turned on the windshield wipers and the wipers sent Leapfrog and Toenail flying! Trixie saw them flying toward her, and she dropped the clothesline and caught both of them! Toenail said, “Help me, help me, I hurt my knee!” Trixie answered, “What do you think I am? A zipper?” They all laughed so hard at this joke that they did not even notice that they had gone off the road and were headed right toward a cliff beside the river!
The rain was coming down so hard, that the river was having a flash flood! The flood was like a big tidal wave going down the river. The rolling surfboard with three super-heroes, laughing like overweight pencils, went off the cliff and landed right on the tidal wave! Now Leapfrog, Toenail, and Trixie were really surfing! They were riding that tidal wave right down the Ohio River at about 75 miles per hour!
Four hours later the Ohio River went into a huge river. There was sign there that said, “You are now in the Mississippi River, surfers are not allowed to build sandcastles”!
Leapfrog, Toenail, and Trixie wanted to jump for joy because they had found the Mississippi River, but they did not jump for joy because they would have tipped over the surfboard! They were still riding the tidal wave; it was still raining harder than a flea on a bottle of used car oil! The tidal wave was getting bigger and bigger!
Soon they came to a sign that said, “Welcome to here! The home of the world championship sandcastle contest and the Candy-Flavored Pop Factory”! Looking ahead they saw a huge hill made of sand, and at the very top of the hill, looking prettier than a bald gerbil in a thunderstorm, was the Candy-Flavored Pop Factory!
Our three super-heroes were cheering and dancing on their surfboard when it happened! The tidal wave hit the sand hill that the factory was on, and the sand all got washed away, and the factory fell into the river and began to float away! Leapfrog knew what needed to be done, so he quickly told Toenail and Trixie to …………….
Application:
In the Bible in Matthew 7:24-27 Jesus says:
Anyone who listens to My teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears My teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a might crash.
Leapfrog, Toenail, and Trixie got to see what happens when a building is built on sand. The tidal wave washed the sand away, and the factory fell into the river and floated away
We can hear God’s words in several ways; through reading the Bible, listening to a pastor or teacher at Church, listening to Christian music, or even by reading a Bible story online (like this story).
Jesus said that if we just hear His words, but do not put His teachings into practice in our life, we are just like a building that is built on a hill of sand. When hard times come, our life will come crashing down.
Jesus also said that if we hear His words and put His teachings into practice in our life, we are like a building that is built on solid rock! There will still be many hard times in life, but this person will not be overwhelmed. This life is built on the solid foundation of Jesus’ words.
When you read the stories on this website, or read your Bible, or go to Church and are taught, it is not just entertainment. When you hear what the Word of God says, apply it to your life, and ask God to help His Word change your life!
