All the helpers had given their reports and the helpers were all gathered in the room with the teacher. They were nervous and wondered if the teacher was happy with their work. All of them could think of things that they could have done better, and wished they had served the teacher better and not made so many mistakes.
The teacher looked around the room at all the helpers and smiled! The teacher said, “I am pleased with the way you served me and did the job that I gave to you! I know that you are not perfect, but I understand you and love each of you! Now we are all going on a journey together! I am taking you to the Grand Canyon National Park! I did not send any of you to this park because we are going to explore this park together! In fact, I have bought an apartment building just outside the park and we are going to live there, write all your stories, publish them on the internet, and just enjoy each other’s company! From now on I will call you, my friends!”
The teacher had arranged for all of them to travel on a private train all the way to Arizona. The teacher told the helpers that their train left the station in just 2 hours!
The helpers rushed out of the room and tried to quickly get ready for the trip to the Grand Canyon! They were excited, but they were also scared! How could they possibly get ready for this trip in so little time? Two hours later the train left right on time, and the teacher and all the helpers were on the train.
One of the helpers discovered that she had forgotten her glasses! She would not be able to see clearly the whole trip! The teacher just smiled and gave the helper a new pair of glasses that were just right for the helper!
All the helpers found that they had forgotten something important! One had forgotten their money, another had forgotten their toothbrush, another had forgotten their deodorant. Others had forgotten to bring a change of underwear, and one had brought five T-shirts, but no pants!
No matter what had been forgotten, the teacher had exactly what was needed by that helper, and it was always the right size and the right color! The helpers were amazed! How did their teacher know what they would forget to bring, and how did the teacher know exactly what would make them the most happy? It was an amazing trip!
The best times on the trip were the mealtimes! Each of the helpers was served by the teacher, and the teacher gave each of the helpers their favorite foods and there was plenty of food! This train trip was the best trip ever for the helpers because the teacher was with them every minute of the trip! The helpers did not know all the details of their journey, but they were confident that the teacher would get them to the Grand Canyon!
Application for you and me:
The God-Connection in this story is comparing the train trip to a believer’s trip through this life, and comparing the teacher in the story to the way God takes care of believers on their journey! The train trip was so special for the helpers because the teacher was with them the whole trip, God has also promised the believer that He will go with them through this life!
In the Bible in Hebrews 13:5b God says:
For God says, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”
God will stay with those who have given their life to Him every step of the way through this life!
The helpers in the story found that they did not have the things that they needed for the trip, but the teacher had brought along supplies and had everything the helpers needed for the trip. In the same way, God has promised to supply what believers need to travel through this life on earth.
In the Bible in Philippians 4:19 it says:
And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from His glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
The helpers had confidence in that the teacher would get them safely to the Grand Canyon. In the same way, Christians have confidence that God will get them through this life and safely to heaven after this life. No matter how difficult life can be or how impossible the situation is, God is in control and He will get us through this life!
In the Bible in Isaiah 46:9-10 God says:
Remember the things I have done in the past. For I alone am God! I am God, and there is none like me. Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish.
If you do not have God guiding you through this life, then you have no assurance of any help in this life, and you will not get to heaven at the end of this life! Please give your life to God today. Pray and confess that you are a sinner and need the forgiveness provided by Jesus dying on the cross for you, and then rising from the dead. Ask Jesus to come into your life and take control. You will never regret it!
