The next week the kids were excited because they knew that they were going to get to hear the story about the other invisible pinewood derby car! The Professor had them all sit down, and then he read them this story.
“There was a tragedy reported on the news! Three young children were stranded in a cabin on top of a very cold mountain, and no one could rescue them! The reason that no one could rescue them was because there were three impossible things in the way.
The first impossible thing was a wall of snow blocking the path up the mountain! The wall of snow was 150 feet wide and about 100 feet tall! No one could get over that wall of snow!
The second impossible thing was a deep drop-off about halfway up the mountain! The drop-off was 500 feet deep and about 100 feet across, and there were sharp rocks at the bottom of the drop-off that would kill anyone who fell into the drop-off! There was a bridge that went across the drop-off, but it was old and would probably break if anyone tried to cross it.
The third impossible thing was a huge pack of hungry wolves that surrounded the cabin! There were 253 wolves around the cabin! The wolves would not let the children out of the cabin, and they would attack and eat anyone who tried to rescue the children!
The people in charge said that no one was allowed to go close to the mountain, it was just too dangerous!
One of the boys in the group had made a pinewood firetruck, and he decided that he needed to rescue those three children that were in the cabin on top of the mountain! He borrowed some of the secret car wax from the girl in the group, and he made his firetruck invisible.
He drove his invisible firetruck up the mountain until he came to the huge wall of snow. He could not go over that much snow, but he had an idea! He parked his firetruck away from the wall of snow, next to some rocks, then he blasted the air horn on the firetruck! The rocks made the sound of the airhorn echo for about a minute! All the noise made the wall of snow collapse, and all the snow started an avalanche down the mountain!
All the people in the town below the mountain ran to get out of the way of all that snow, and they wondered what had made all that noise!
The boy in the invisible firetruck continued to drive up the mountain until he came to the deep drop-off. The bridge could never hold the boy and his firetruck, but he had an idea! The boy unwound the hose from the firetruck and began to spray water onto that bridge! It was so cold that the water froze right away, and the ice made the bridge stronger! The boy carefully drove his invisible firetruck over the bridge and then continued to drive up the mountain.
The boy came to the pack of 253 wolves, and he was very glad that he and his firetruck were. Invisible. Those wolves looked mean and very hungry. The boy was going to spray all the wolved with water and freeze them, but his firetruck was out of water! He was going to scare them with his air horn, but it was broken! He decided to poke them with the ladder on the firetruck. He drove up behind one of the wolves let the ladder poke the wolf! The wolf was scared because he could not see what had poked him! The wolf began running away! The boy began to poke other wolves, and soon the whole pack of wolves was running away!
The boy quickly went to the cabin and got the three kids out and put them on his firetruck and they began going down the mountain! The wolves saw the kids come out of the cabin and realized that they had been rescued! The wolves could not see the children in the firetruck, but wolves have very good noses, and they could smell the children in the firetruck! The wolved began chasing the invisible firetruck down the mountain! The wolves wanted to eat all the children and destroy the firetruck!
The boy heard the wolved coming and he drove the firetruck as fast as he could, but the wolves could run faster, and there were so many of them! The firetruck was just barely ahead of the wolves when they got to the bridge! The sun had come out and warmed up the air. Huge chunks of ice were falling off the bridge! The boy had no choice except to drive the firetruck across the bridge! The bridge bounced and swayed as the firetruck zoomed across, but they got to the other side safely! All the wolved ran onto the bridge, and the bridge broke! All 253 wolves fell 500 feet to the sharp rocks at the bottom of the drop-off, and that was the end of the wolves!
The boy drove his firetruck the rest of the way down the mountain and took the rescued children back to the parents!”
Professor Ooops Lesson from the Bible:
The Professor told the kids that this story about rescuing kids reminds him of what Jesus did for us. The Professor opened his Bible to Colossians 1:13 and read:
For He (God, the Father) has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of His dear Son (Jesus), who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.
Just like the kids in the story were trapped in the cabin, every person in this world is trapped in sin. We are all born with a sin nature and we all sin.
In the story it looked like it was impossible for anyone to rescue those kids. In the same way, it looked like it was impossible for anyone to rescue humans from sin.
In the story, the boy with the invisible firetruck was able to do what looked impossible and he rescued those kids. In the same way, God’s Son Jesus allowed Himself to be born as a perfect human baby, He lived a perfect life and then allowed Himself to be killed on the cross to pay for our sins. Anyone who believes in Jesus and asks Him to forgive their sins and come into their life and take over, is rescued from their sins, and they have eternal life with God!
In the story, the boy with the invisible firetruck took the rescued kids home. In the same way, everyone who accepts Jesus is rescued from their sins, and at the end of this life they go to their true home, in heaven!
If you have never prayed and asked Jesus to come into your life, please let Him rescue you today!
