Then it happened… The bicycle began bouncing like a toad in a washing machine! There was a blinding flash of light and a loud noise like a turtle singing! Suddenly the City of Jericho and the falling wall disappeared and….
There was a squirrel right in front of them, there was no time to stop and they were going too fast to turn! They ran right over the squirrel’s tail! The Professor said, “Ooops! Shelley looked back at the squirrel and said, “Sorry about that!” Then the Professor screamed, “Ooops!” Shelly looked ahead and couldn’t believe her eyes! They were headed down a very steep hill with a creek at the bottom, and the squirrel was chasing them! They could not stop; they went faster and faster! Then it happened, they went down the bank of the creek and landed with a splash in the middle of the small creek! As they were dragging the bicycle/time machine out of the creek, a golf ball came whistling through the air and hit the Professor right in the head! The Professor said, “Ooops!” The golfer who had hit the ball started yelling at the Professor and threw his golf club at the Professor! Shane said, “Let’s get out of here!” There was a golf course on the other side of the creek, the Professor, Shane and Shelly got on the bicycle/time machine and began to ride across the golf course. The golfer started to chase them, and other golfers saw them riding on the golf course and leaving tire tracks everywhere. All the other golfers began chasing the bicycle/time machine too, and the squirrel was still chasing them!
The Professor finally saw a gate in the golf course fence and went through the gate. They went across a parking lot with all the golfers and the squirrel still chasing them and went through another gate in another fence. Shelly could not believe what was in front of them! It was a big public swimming pool! The bicycle/time machine went right into the shallow end where all the little children were playing in the water. The Professor said “Ooops!” The children screamed, the parents began yelling, and the lifeguards blew their whistles. The Professor got off the bicycle/time machine and tried to explain everything to the head lifeguard, but he managed to step on a full bottle of sunscreen! Sunscreen went flying everywhere, and a big glob of it hit the head lifeguard right in the face! The lifeguard rolled up his towel and snapped the Professor with the towel! The Professor said, “Owww!” The other lifeguards rolled up their towels and got ready to snap the Professor, Shane and Shelly! The parents and the kids squirted sunscreen all over the Professor! The golfers raised their clubs and got ready to attack, and the squirrel got ready to bite the Professor! The Professor, Shane and Shelly got the bike out of the pool, got on it, and got out of there fast!
Then the chase began! The Professor, Shane and Shelly were on the bicycle/time machine, they were chased by the lifeguards, the parents, the kids, and the golfers! Following everyone else was the squirrel, and he was mad! As they were going down a street, Shane asked Shelly, “Where do you think we are? This does not seem like a Bible story! This is more like a city in our own time!” Shelly answered, “I don’t know what city we are in, but I need to find a Church.” Shane asked, “Why do you need to find a Church?” Shelly answered, “I want to get a Bible! We keep landing in all these Bible stories, and if we had a Bible, we could look up the stories and learn more about them!”
After going a little over a mile, they had left everyone way behind except for the squirrel, he was about 1 block behind, but still following! Shane yelled, “Stop! Let’s turn the handle so the time machine will work, we need to get out of this place before that squirrel catches us! They stopped at the corner of Grand Ave. and Shelly turned the handle, and they were all ready to leave. Then it happened!
They heard sirens! Looking back up the street they saw police cars in the distance coming toward them! Shane said, “Quick, let’s go down Grand Ave, maybe they won’t find us! Shelly said, “I see a Church down there too!” They went down Grand Ave for a few blocks, and the sirens were getting closer, and the squirrel was still following them! There was a sign in front of the Church that said, ‘Outdoor Service in the parking lot’. Shelly yelled, “Let’s go to the meeting in the parking lot, maybe we can get lost in the crowd!” The rode the bicycle/time machine around the building into the parking lot just as the pastor was holding up a Bible and saying, “We have free Bible’s for anyone who needs a Bible.” The Professor screeched, “Ooops!” as the bicycle/time machine came hurtling toward the crowd! The people scattered out of the way and the Professor snatched the Bible from the hand of the confused pastor as they went flying past him.
The Professor managed to steer the bicycle/time machine out of the parking lot and a block away was a park. They stopped in the park and the Professor gave the Bible to Shelly. Shane asked her, “Why is having a Bible so important, isn’t it just like any other book?” Shelly answered, “No, it is different from any other book in the world! It is the Word of God and it is all true without mistakes!”
Shelly opened the front cover of the Bible and gave a squeal of delight, “Look what is written inside the front cover! It is a Bible verse: II Timothy chapter 3 verses 16 & 17! It says: ‘All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip His people to do every good work.’”
Suddenly they heard police sirens coming from the other direction, they had to get out of there fast! Shelly put the Bible in a carrying bag on the bicycle and they all began pedaling again. Fortunately, they were going downhill, so the bicycle/time machine picked up speed really fast. They were going past the last tree in the park when it happened! The squirrel jumped out of the tree and landed on the Professor’s head and bit his ear! The Professor yelled, “Owww” and tried to hit the squirrel, of course he missed the squirrel and his hand hit the gear shift lever and shifted the bicycle/time machine into high gear! The Professor said, “Ooops!”
Then it happened… The bicycle began bouncing like a toad in a washing machine! There was a blinding flash of light and a loud noise like a turtle singing! Suddenly the park and the tree disappeared and….
