For a few days the fawn that Haley had named Frank, even though she was a girl, seemed very sad. She missed her mother who had been killed by some bad people. Haley spent a lot of time with Frank and tried to cheer her up, but Frank still looked sad. Haley even set up a cot in the barn and spent the nights with Frank.
One morning Haley was still asleep, and she felt something wet on her face. Haley woke up quickly and found that Frank was licking her face! Haley did not want to get out of bed yet, but Frank started to nudge Haley with her head. Haley got out of bed and fixed a bottle of milk for Frank. That whole day Frank followed Haley everywhere she went. Haley did not have any time by herself!
That afternoon Joe went into the Medford Forest to make sure there were no problems, and Haley decided that she wanted to go to her room and listen to some music. When Frank was not looking, Haley ran across the yard quickly, opened the screen door and went into the house. As she ran into the kitchen she heard a strange noise behind her, Frank had followed her into the house, and she was in the kitchen! Haley did not know what to do! She wondered if Frank would behave herself in the house, and there was only one way to find out! Haley went into her room and Frank followed her without causing any problems. Haley lay down on her bed, and Frank jumped up on the bed and lay down with her head on Haley’s shoulder. Haley was so happy that Frank did not cause any problems in the house! Haley and Frank were both happy and they both fell asleep!
Later that afternoon Joe came home. He came in the house, and then he heard crazy noises! It sounded like Haley’s bedroom was being destroyed! Things were falling on the floor, Haley was screaming, and there were other strange noises! Just then the noise started to come toward the kitchen, and Frank burst into the room! Frank saw Joe and turned around to run back to Haley’s room. Frank ran into Haley who was coming down the hall, and they both fell. There was an incredible noise of thrashing legs and Haley was still screaming! Joe moved as quickly as he could and went out the door of the house and held the door open! Soon Frank came running out of the house, she ran across the yard and into the barn!
Haley also came out of the house, and she looked terrible! Her clothes were torn, her hair was a mess, her nose was bleeding, and she had hoof marks on her arms and legs. Joe asked Haley why she had brought Frank into the house, a fawn does not belong inside the house.
Haley answered, “I did not mean to bring Frank into the house, I went in the house to listen to some music in my room, and Frank snuck in behind me before the screen door closed. She behaved so well and followed me into the bedroom and we both fell asleep. Everything was fine until Frank heard you come into the house. Why does Frank follow me everywhere, and why did Frank go so crazy when you came home, she does not cause trouble when it is just the two of us?
Joe thought for a few minutes, and then he said, “Did you notice that Frank does not seem sad anymore? That is because the memory of his mother that was killed has faded from her mind. When animals are separated from their mothers, they forget their mother after a few days. Frank now thinks that you are his new mother. That is why she follows you around all the time, and that is why she is calm and behaves when it is just the two of you. However, you are the only human that she accepts this way, she is afraid of other humans, that is why she went crazy when I came into the house.”
“Haley you can learn a little bit more about who you are from this experience. Just like Frank forgot her mother, God also chooses to forget! It is true! When you pray and ask Jesus to forgive your sins, God forgives your sins and He chooses to erase the memory of your sins from His mind!”
In the Bible in Psalms 103:10-12 it says:
He does not punish us for all our sins; He does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve. For His unfailing love toward those who fear Him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.
In the Bible in Hebrews 8:12 it says:
And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins.
Joe told Haley, “It is an incredible thing, but God who has all knowledge chooses to forget our sins when we come to Him and ask Jesus to come into our life! I do not understand how He can erase our sins from His mind, but the Bible says that He does, so I believe it!”
