The next week the Leader told the kids that they were going to talk about pizza. The kids were excited because this meant that they were going to have pizzas at the Thanksgiving Feast that they were going to prepare for their families! They started talking about their favorite take-out pizzas that they could order, but the Leader interrupted and told them that they were not going to order take-out pizza. Then the kids started talking about their favorite brands of frozen pizza, and the Leader interrupted them again and told them that they were not going to use frozen pizzas.
The Leader told the kids that they were going to buy pre-made pizza crusts and then put the toppings on the crusts and bake them in the ovens. The Leader asked the kids to give him ideas about what toppings they would need to buy. The kids made the following suggestions:
- Pizza Sauce
- Sausage
- Pepperoni
- Cheese
- Mushrooms
- Pineapple
- Green Peppers
The Leader told the kids that the kids would choose four teams to design the pizzas. Each team would make two pizzas, so they would make a total of eight pizzas. Each team could use any combination of toppings that they wanted to and use any design they could invent. The kids were excited to choose the pizza teams and to begin planning!
The Leader told the kids that each pizza that they designed would be unique, and each would be a masterpiece in the eyes of the kids that designed that pizza. The Bible teaches us that each person who has accepted Jesus is recreated, and our new life is designed by God to be unique and each of us is God’s masterpiece!
In the Bible in Ephesians 2:10 it says:
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.
The Leader told the kids that this is one of the most exciting things about being a follower of Jesus! After we accept Jesus into our life, He begins to make changes in our life. Gradually we will be changed into the person that God designed us to be in the first place! We do not need to compare ourselves to anyone else because each of us will be a unique masterpiece designed by God Himself!
