Kris and Kell tore open the envelope to find out what adventure they were going to go on next. The envelope contained airplane tickets to fly from Minnesota to Lexington, Kentucky. There would be a rental car waiting for them, and they would drive north to Williamstown, Kentucky. At Williamstown they would learn about Noah’s Ark!
Kris and Kell wondered how they could learn about Noah’s Ark in Kentucky, but they had learned to follow the directions and not waste time trying to figure out all the details. They made the trip with no problems and then when they arrived at Williamstown, they could not believe their eyes! There was Noah’s Ark right there in front of them! It was not the real Noah’s Ark, but it was a full-size replica of the Ark. They had built this Ark using the measurements that are in the Bible! The Ark was huge!

The envelope had tickets for everything at the place, so Kris and Kell knew that they would have a very busy day! They toured the Ark itself and could not believe how much room there was in the Ark. There were cages and pens for various size animals and there were people who explained how Noah and his family might have used various tools to help them feed and clean up after all those animals. There were also exhibits about how the world changed during the flood and how the weather was different after the flood. There was information on how the fossils were formed and how natural wonders, like the Grand Canyon, were formed by the flood.
There were also people who taught classes and showed how the account of Noah’s flood in the Bible and scientific observations support each other. Kris and Kell learned that there are traditions of the flood in many different cultures around the world. The flood really happened! In all the different traditions, there was a flood that covered the whole world, and a few people and animals were saved in a big boat. The stories have many similarities, but there is one big difference between them! The big boats described in the other stories could not have possibly floated and come through the flood without killing the people and animals inside the big boat. Only the Noah’s Ark, which was designed by God Himself, would have floated and not tipped over in the violent waters of the flood! The story in the Bible is the true story!
There are many other things to see and do beside touring the Ark itself. There is a zoo that contains rare animals from around the world. Besides just seeing the animals, Kris and Kell learned some fun facts about each animal. Kris was fascinated by the Zebroid. This animal had one parent, that was a horse, and the other parent was a Zebra. Zebras, horses, and donkeys all come from the same ‘kind’ of animal. Noah was told to take two of each ‘kind’ of animal onto the Ark, so he would not have had to take two horses, two donkeys, and two zebras, he would only have had to take two of that ‘kind’. That also means that Noah would have only had to have two dogs ‘kinds’ on the Ark, not two of every breed of dog!
Kell liked the Kangaroo Walkabout best! They got to walk on a path through the kangaroo area. The kangaroos were roaming freely in the area, and if a kangaroo came to you, you could pet it. Several kangaroos came up to Kell and she got to pet them, but no kangaroos came to Kris!
There was also a children’s playground and there were special classes for children of different ages where they could do activities that would teach them more about Noah’s flood, the Ark, and the animals. There was so much to see and do that they could not see all of it!
There was one more attraction for adults! It was a zip line course! Kris and Kell looked at people high in the air sliding along the ziplines, and they were scared! Kell told Kris, “This day has been awesome, and we have had so many great adventures, and we have not had any misadventures! Let’s not do the ziplines, I do not want to take a chance of having a misadventure!” Kris agreed with Kell, so they did not go on the ziplines.
Lesson Learned about God:
Kris and Kell learned a lot while they were at the Ark Encounter in Kentucky. They had always had a lot of questions about Noah’s Ark. They had wondered how big the Ark was, how could it survive the flood, and how did Noah fit all the animals on the Ark, and how did Noah and his family take care of all the animals? Their visit to the Ark Encounter helped to answer many of those questions and helped Kris and Kell to realize that the Bible is completely true! They had a stronger faith and trust in God and the Bible after being at the Ark Encounter.
They learned that they could trust what is said in the Bible! The Bible is God’s Word, and He does not make any mistakes!
In the Bible in John 17:17, Jesus is praying to the Father in heaven, and He says:
“Make them (the believers) holy by Your truth; teach them Your word, which is truth.”
