18. Misadventures….Plus – Ohio

The next morning Kell got up early and walked back to Cannon Beach.  She wanted to spend some quiet time by the ocean talking to God.  It was wonderful and peaceful that morning by the ocean and Kell felt very refreshed and very close to God.  As she was about to leave the beach, she saw a bottle that had been washed up onto the shore.  The bottle was sealed with a cork and there was a note inside the bottle!  Kell carefully opened the bottle and took the note out.  The note said:

“Dear Kris and Kell, drive to the airport, return your rental car and a person will give you tickets to fly to Ohio.”

When they got to the airport, there was a person waiting for them with airplane tickets to Cleveland Ohio.  The person told Kris and Kell that a driver would meet them at the airport and take them to their next adventure.

Kris and Kell spent the time on the plane trying to guess what kind of adventure they would have in Ohio.  When they got to the airport a person was waiting in the lobby area holding a sign with their names on it.  This driver would not tell them where they were going but just took them out to the car.  They left the airport and drove west along the shore of Lake Erie.  The views of this Great Lake were incredible, but they were still wondering where they were going.

A little over an hour later they arrived at Sandusky Ohio, and they could not believe what they saw!  There was a huge amusement park right beside Lake Erie!  This amusement park is called Cedar Point Amusement Park, and it is very famous!  Kris and Kell could hardly wait to go to the Amusement Park!

Then it happened!  Kris and Kell saw the sign by the parking lot that said, ‘Closed for the Season’!  It was too early in the spring for the park to be open, opening day was a few weeks away!

Kris groaned and said, “This is another misadventure!  We are at an amusement park that is not open!  What will we do now?”

Their driver still did not say anything, but she drove the car up to the main entrance to the park and then handed Kris and Kell two special tickets!  Kris and Kell had been invited to join a small group of people who got to go into the park that day and ride all the rides even though the park was not open to the public!

Kris and Kell were so excited!  They looked at each other and both said at the same time, “We have got to do the roller coasters!”  So, they ignored all the other rides and rode the roller coasters.

The park has 18 roller coasters!  Kris and Kell spent the whole day riding all the roller coasters!  It was great because there were no lines, and they got to ride the roller coasters again and again without having to wait in line!  There were roller coasters with corkscrew turns, loops, and huge hills.  The roller coasters were fast and provided thrills that cannot be described!

By the end of the day, they were tired, dizzy, and had headaches, but it had been a day they would never forget!  Their driver met them at the gate and took them to a hotel for the night.

Lesson Learned about God

That night in the hotel, Kris and Kell talked about the fun day they had just had, wondered what they could learn about God from their adventure in the amusement park.

After thinking for a few minutes Kris said, “I think the thing that God reminded me about today is that He holds us safe in His hands.  On the roller coasters we had either lap bars or shoulder harnesses to keep us from falling out of the roller coasters when they went down steep hills or turned upside down!  Without those safety features we could have fallen out of the roller coasters.  In the same way, God keeps us in His hand while we go through this life on earth.  No matter what happens in our life, God holds believers safely and securely.  Even if something as bad as an accident or a sickness comes into our life, God still holds onto us.  Even if something very bad comes into our life and we die, God still holds onto us and takes every believer safely to heaven where there will be no more accidents, sickness, or death.  God promises this to every person who believes in Jesus and asks Him to forgive their sins and come into their life.”

In the Bible in Isaiah 41:13 it says:

For I hold you by your right hand – I, the Lord your God.  And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid.  I am here to help you.”

In the Bible in Psalms 139:9-10 it says:

If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me.

In the Bible in Psalms 73:23-28 it says:

Yet I still belong to You; You hold my right hand.  You guide me with Your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny.  Whom have I in heaven but You?  I desire You more than anything on earth.  My health may fail, and my sprit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; He is mine forever.  Those who desert Him will perish, for You destroy those who abandon You.  But as for me, how good it is to be near God!  I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things You do.
