There was a kid’s group in a certain Church, and at the beginning of October the Leader announced that he had a special announcement! The group was going to have a Thanksgiving Feast! The kids were not excited. Thanksgiving was a long way away, and they wanted to do something now! The Leader explained that this was not going to be an ordinary Thanksgiving Feast, they were going to prepare the meal themselves and invite their parents to share the feast with them! This sounded a lot more exciting, but one of the kids said, “I do not know how to make a turkey or anything else that we eat at Thanksgiving time.” The Leader explained that they were not going to prepare a turkey or the traditional foods that people usually eat at Thanksgiving time.
The Leader passed out paper and pens to all the kids and told them to write down five things that they loved to eat. The Leader would collect the papers, and they would prepare the most popular foods for their feast. The kids still did not believe that they could make an entire meal for everyone. The Leader told them that they could do this, but it would take a lot of planning. They would have to plan every detail and coordinate all their plans so that the food would all be ready to eat at the right time!
The Leader also told them that during the weeks leading up to the feast, they would have a Bible lesson every week about one part of their upcoming feast. Their first Bible lesson would be about planning, since they were working on their plan for the feast this week.
The Leader told the kids that just like they were making a detailed plan for the Thanksgiving Fest, God has made a detailed plan for each one of us. Nothing surprises God! He knows everything that is going to happen to each of us, and He knows the best plan for each of us.
In the Bible in Revelation 22:13 Jesus says:
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”
God can see everything, the past as well as the future. God knew us and had a plan for us even before we were born!
In the Bible in Psalms 139:16-18 it says:
You (God) saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!
God’s plan for each of us is that we come to the point where we ask Jesus to forgive our sins and come into our life so that we can live for Him! After a person makes that most important decision, then the best of God’s wonderful plan for us can begin.
In the Bible in Jeremiah 29:11-13 it says:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for Me wholeheartedly, you will find Me.”
The Leader told the kids that their plans for the Thanksgiving Feast were important, but God’s plan for each of our lives is far more important! Turn to God, ask Jesus into your life, and experience the greatest life possible on this side of heaven! If you have Jesus in your heart, after this life on earth is over, then you get heaven too!
