Kris and Kell went to sleep in Penn Yan, New York early because they figured that their impatient driver would be waking them up very early in the morning. This driver was always in a hurry and was always rude to them! They usually got to their destination very early and had to sit around and wait after hurrying so much. They did not have to worry about packing their luggage because their luggage had been left in New Jersey. Their driver was supposed to bring their luggage to them.
At 2:30am their driver was pounding on their door, and Kell went to the door to tell their driver that they would be ready in about 10 minutes, but the driver did not give Kell time to say anything! As soon as Kell began to open the door, the driver burst into the room, pushed Kris and Kell out of the door and down the hallway! The driver was screaming, “Hurry up, we need to leave right now, we are going to be late!” Kris asked, “Where are the suitcases? You said that you would bring our suitcases to us!” The driver answered, “There is no time for that! I sent your suitcases to your next destination; they will be waiting for you there!” Kris and Kell were still wearing the same clothes that they had worn yesterday! There was nothing they could do about it; they could not even brush their teeth! It was a totally gross morning!
The driver pushed them into the car and then drove towards the airport like they were in a racecar! When they screeched into the airport, the driver jammed on the brakes, yanked them out of the car, gave them some tickets, and shoved them through the doors of the airport terminal!
Kris and Kell figured that they were very early for their flight, and had hours of time to waste, but Kell looked at the tickets and could not believe what she saw! Their plane was supposed to leave in three minutes! Kris and Kell ran through the airport! They bumped into many people, but there was no time to stop and explain! They arrived at their plane’s loading area five minutes late! Fortunately, there had been a delay, and the passengers were just starting to board the plane!
Once the plane was in the air, Kris looked at their tickets to see where they were going and found out that they were going to Pennsylvania! They looked forward to a nice short flight, but then it happened! The pilot announced that there was a severe storm headed across their flight path, and they would have to make a detour to miss that storm. The plane turned west to try to get around the storm, but soon there was another storm coming toward them, so they turned south! More storms kept popping up, so they kept flying away from the storms! After a while they were flying over St. Louis and they saw the Gateway Arch that they had visited. Their plane had to land in Chicago to get more fuel, and soon they were in the air again. They dodged storms the entire day and it was starting to get dark when they finally landed in Pennsylvania.
When they got off the plane there was a very unusual message waiting for them! The message said that there was a rental car reserved for them, they were supposed to drive to Hellam Township in York County Pennsylvania. They had reservations to stay in a house shaped like shoe! They were going to stay there for three days to rest!
They got their rental car, and Kell entered the address into her tablet, and they headed for their destination. While they were driving, another bad storm caught up with them! There were bright flashes of lighting, deafening thunder, and so much rain they could hardly see where they were going! After the storm had passed, they noticed that there were no lights anywhere! The storm had knocked out all the power in the whole area!
Finally, they got to their destination and got out of the car. There was still no power, and it was completely dark! The rain had stopped, but heavy clouds still covered the moon and stars so there was no light at all! Kris used the light on his cell phone, and they started across the yard. Suddenly the house that was shaped like a shoe was right in front of them, and they could not believe their eyes! It was a shoe-shaped doghouse!
(This is what the doghouse looks like in the daytime)

There was an opening in the back of the shoe, and there was just enough room for Kell to crawl inside! Most of her body was inside the shoe, but her legs stuck out, and there was no room for Kris! The ground was too wet to lay on, so Kris tried to lay on top of the shoe, but it was very uncomfortable! They did not have any blankets, and soon their clothes were wet, it was a miserable night, and they were scheduled to stay here for three nights! Kell began to cry, and Kris was almost crying too! This was a terrible misadventure!
Finally, morning came, and the clouds rolled away as the sun came up. Kris and Kell could not believe their eyes! Across the lawn was a big house shaped like a shoe!

This was where they were supposed to stay! They were not supposed to stay in the doghouse! Kris and Kell ran across the yard to the big shoe, and found that they were expected, and their luggage was there! They could hardly wait to take showers, change clothes, and brush their teeth!
After all the adventures that they had had, Kris and Kell did need to take a few days to rest before they had more adventures, and they enjoyed the time that they stayed in the house that looked like a giant shoe (except for that first night, they did not enjoy staying in the doghouse)!
Lesson Learned about God
On the last night that they were staying in the house that looked like a big shoe, Kris and Kell talked about their time in this unusual house. Kell said, “This shoe house is perfect for what we needed! We needed time to just rest and enjoy a place that was very special! This reminds me of what the Bible tells us about what happens to Believers after this life on earth is done!
After Jesus died for our sins on the cross and then rose from the dead, He told His disciples that He was going back to the Father in heaven, and that He would be preparing a special place for each Believer in heaven, so that after this life we can find the peace and rest that we so desperately need!”
In the Bible in John 14:1-3 Jesus says:
“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in Me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.
In the Bible in Hebrews 4:9-10 it says:
So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world.
God knows each of us and is designing a special place for each of us! In this place, after the hard times in this life, we will find complete peace and contentment! Only those who have believed in Jesus, and asked Him to forgive their sins, and come into their life will experience this special place and the rest reserved for each Believer in heaven.
