The next morning, Kris and Kell woke up in their hotel in West Virginia and they found an envelope under their door. The note inside the envelope said, ‘Drive to Dewey Beach, Delaware and there you will get instructions about flying.’
Kris said, “This makes no sense! Why should we drive all the way to Delaware and then catch a plane? We should go to the nearest airport and catch a plane from West Virginia to our next destination! This is going to be another misadventure!”
Kell decided to look up Dewey Beach, Delaware on her tablet and she was totally confused! Less than 500 people live at Dewey Beach, and the closest airport is in Maryland! These directions did not make any sense! Kell got out her phone and called Misadventures….Plus. No one answered the phone, but there was a message that said, ‘We are closed today, sorry for the inconvenience, if this is Kris and Kell calling, please look for a man on the beach wearing a purple and green hat.’
Kris and Kell were grumbling, but they decided that the best thing they could do was to drive to Dewey Beach. At least they would get to see some great scenery! Later that day they arrived at Dewey Beach in Delaware and immediately began to look for a man wearing a purple and green hat. At first that did not see the man, but then there was a sudden gust of wind, and a purple and green hat came rolling across the beach! A man was chasing the hat, and Kris and Kell began to chase the man! The man finally caught his hat, and he turned around and saw Kris and Kell running up to him. The man held out an envelope, but then another gust of wind snatched the envelope out of his hand and blew it toward the water! Kris and Kell ran as fast as they could and grabbed the envelope just before it went into the water. They turned around to ask the man some questions, but he was running off the beach towards the parking lot!
Kell tore open the envelope and took out the note, it said, ‘Tomorrow you are scheduled to fly through the air at the beach using a parasail!’ Suddenly it all made sense, Kell said, “We are not going to fly in a plane, we are going parasailing! That sounds like a lot of fun!”
The next morning, Kris and Kell went to the parasailing place, and they were told how to parasail. It is really very simple; they were both strapped in a harness side-by-side and seated on the back section of a fast motorboat. A big parachute is attached to their harnesses and as the boat builds up speed, the cable attaching them to the boat is unwound and they begin to fly behind the boat.

They were pulled up in the air gently and smoothly and it was fun! Kris and Kell looked around at all the scenery and they also looked down into the water and they were surprised that they could see some of the larger fish swimming around. In just a few seconds they could not see the fish anymore because they were going higher! They kept going higher until they were 800 feet up in the air! Kell grabbed Kris’s hand and held on tight! They were very high in the air, the scenery was incredible, but it was a long way down to the water!
After a few minutes they started to go lower, and they were not scared anymore, but then something scary happened! They were getting very close to the water, but they were still a long way behind the boat! They went even lower and soon they were getting wet! Suddenly the boat speeded up and they quickly went back up to 800 feet above the water! Kris and Kell began to relax and enjoy the feeling of flying so high above the water.
Soon their time of parasailing was over, and the people on the boat started the machine that wound up the cable and pulled them back to the boat. They smoothly landed on the back of the boat. Kell asked the people on the boat what had happened, why did they almost go completely down into the water. The people on the boat told them that the people at Misadventures….Plus had asked that they get ‘dunked’ into the ocean during their adventure to add a little more excitement to their time! Kell said, “It was very exciting! I hope that someday we have the chance to do this again! It was awesome!”
Lesson Learned about God
After their parasailing adventure was finished, Kris and Kell sat on the beach and watched other people go parasailing over the ocean. While they were on the beach, they started talking about what they could learn about God from this adventure.
Kell said, “I really liked flying in the air behind the boat, it reminded me that the Bible teaches us that someday Jesus is going to return to take Believers out of this world! At that moment, all Believers will fly up and meet Jesus in the air. The Believers who have died will be in the lead and the Believers who are still alive at that time will be right behind them. It will all take place very quickly and it could happen at any time! The Bible tells us to be ready for Jesus to come back for us! The way to be ready is to be sure that we have believed in Jesus, prayed and asked Him to forgive our sins and to come into our life and take control. If you have done this, then you can look forward to the return of Jesus with no fear!”
In the Bible in John 14:2-3 Jesus says:
There is more than enough room in My Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with Me where I am.
In the Bible in I Thessalonians 4:16-18 it says:
For the Lord Himself (Jesus) will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. So encourage each other with these words.
In the Bible in I Corinthians 15:51-53 it says:
But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed! It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed. For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies.
Jesus is coming again, and it could be very soon! Are you ready?
